CAR AND CARRIAGE CARAVAN MUSEUM

The Car and Carriage Caravan Museum exhibits items relating to transportation, including authentically restored cars, carriages, coaches and costumes, dating back to 1725 before the Caverns were even discovered. The centerpiece of the collection of is a 1892 Benz, one of the oldest cars in the country still in operating condition. Other highlights include a Conestoga Wagon, a 1908 Baker Electric, a 1913 Stanley Steamer, and Rudolph Valentino's 1925 Rolls Royce.

The Car and Carriage Caravan Museum entrance is included with paid admission into the caverns. It opens at 9 a.m. daily and closes 1 1/2 hours after last Caverns tour.

GARDEN MAZE

Unravel the mystery of the maze inside the ornamental garden at Luray Caverns. Rooted in myth, mazes have existed for centuries in countless forms, across many cultures around the world. They have been designed for entertainment, recreation, art, magic and meditation. At Luray Caverns, over 1,500 Dark American Arborvitae, eight feet tall and four feet wide, create a half mile pathway enhanced with a misting fog. The twisting pathways lead past fountains and into a cave. At forty points the challenger must choose a direction to solve the riddle and emerge from the maze. An elevated platform provides relief for those hopelessly lost.

Rates Adults: $6.00, Children (6 thru 12 years of age): $5.00.

Groups (minimum 20 or more paying persons) Adults: $4.50, Children and Students (thru 12th grade): $3.50

SINGING TOWER

The Luray Singing Tower, officially known as the Belle Brown Northcott Memorial, was erected in 1937 opposite Luray Caverns in memory of Colonel T.C. Northcott's wife. At 117 feet in height, the Luray Singing Tower contains a carillon of 47 bells. The largest bell weighs 7,640 pounds and is six feet in diameter. The smallest weighs a mere 12 1/2 pounds. Recognized as one of the country's major carillons, 45 minute recitals are scheduled regularly throughout the spring, summer and fall. During April and May on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00p.m.; during June, July and August on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m.; and during September and October on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

FOOD AND SHOPS

The Stalactite Café and Restaurant an on-site, specialty coffee shop offers a café menu and buffets. The Café can seat 150.

Choose a remembrance of your visit from among the three gift shops at Luray Caverns. Original hand-crafted goods, souvenir items and themed gifts can be found in the Country Store, the Entrance Building Shop and the Car and Carriage Caravan Museum shop.
